Coca-Cola Insult via Price Increase
Last night, I discovered that Coca-Cola (here in Houston) had increased their prices by 68% via the underhanded method of not increasing their price radically, but by changing the item from a 12-pack to an 8-pack. I used PlanetFeedback to send them a letter. I don’t have too big a problem with them raising their prices 68%, I have a problem with the way they did it - as if they think I’m too stupid to notice that I’m only getting 8 cans instead of 12. [This particular topic hit me about a year ago when yogurt containers went from 8 ounces to 6 ounces and no price change - that’s a 33% increase in price - the official response from the company was “consumers indicated a preference for smaller size containers.” Yeah, we want a smaller container, but for a smaller cost, too!]
