Microsoft XP - JPEG vulnerability
I don’t usually annouce all these little technical goodies that I find out about, but I just heard about one of the most pervasive bug yet in Microsoft software. I’ve always said that it’s impossible to get a computer virus from looking at a picture (i.e., a file that ends in JPG or JPEG.) Guess what? I was wrong. Fortunately, the virus is easy to identify and your virus scanning software will be able to find any occurance (once you update your virus signatures, which I’m sure you do - right?) In addition, you’ll need to download and apply the fixes from Microsoft.
