Bill O'Reilly spins Christmas

Bill's December 24 editorial on Christmas is interesting: he blames "secular progressives" for the removal of "Christ" from Christmas. According to the CIA factbook, only 10% of America is identified as "no religion". So Bill is claiming that no more than 10% (after all, not everyone without religion is a "progressive") of the country is ruining it for the other 90%. Apparently having control of the Presidency and both Houses of Congress is not enough clout to do anything constructive, but 10% of the un-represented population is ruining America and insuring that the "USA cannot defeat terrorism ".

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Flurries all day here in Clear Lake. Only the second time for snow since I moved here in 1991. Of course there was no accumulation, but it made for an interesting Christmas Eve.
Later - wow, it really did snow! I even went out on Christmas morning to get pictures of all out neighbor's houses.

Grand Princess cruise

We took the Grand Princess out of Galveston on 12/11/2004. The crew of the ship were the nicest we'd ever met - we had an especially great time on the scavenger hunt. However, we hated the layout of the ship (no stairs in the middle of the ship, dining room hidden away, no chairs around the atrium, hard to get to the disco, etc.). We also found the big screen TV at the pool to be a bad idea during the day - how many times can you listen to Shrek in one week? And it was a pity that the TV was on all the time - because the Grand had the best Calypso band we've heard. Check out the pictures.

Christmas Party
We had our annual Christmas Party. Alas, no pictures - but we did have a record turnout: see, some people don't mind coming out to suburbia.
