Wind Storm
A very heavy windstorm came through our neighborhood. It ripped branches off trees and made a general mess. I feel it was related to a tornado, because if you look at the other streets in the neighborhood, the houses that were affected were in a line about 75 yards wide and about a 1/4 mile long. Quite interesting...

Volleyball championships in Dallas
Just back from Dallas for the NAGVA championships. I was on a pick-up team: we'd played together only once before (in Houston, where we finished last), so my expectations were not real high. However, we ended up doing well in the first day of pool play, but ended up in last place in the tournament. Still, I had a great time - although my body's hurting a bit too much these days from all the playing.

Things could be worse

I can't complain about how conservative our government is - as I was Googleing to find out about Brad Rutter, the Jeopardy finalist, I ran across this forum entry: I realized that we're a long way from how bad it could be.

First swim
our swimming poolGot in the pool for the first time. Temperature is only 80 degreees - but it was refreshing. Sadly, I discovered that there is a leak in the liner. Another $4,000 to fix it. Ouch.

Palm Springs
